The mark as presence and memory: in the Tracce series, the painterly gesture becomes a physical trace, an imprint left on the canvas through oil and 14B pencil.
Matter is reduced to its essentials — the groove, black, the texture of the canvas — revealing the tension between what remains and what is erased, between the artist’s body and the surface of the work.

The works in the Tracce series are made on canvas using oil and 14B pencil. Dimensions range from 70×100 cm to 140×200 cm. The works are unframed and signed by the artist on the reverse.
The series developed between 2022 and 2026 as an evolution of Ramagnano’s research into gesture and material. The pencil mark — hard, dry and incisive — enters into dialogue with the fluidity of oil, generating a visual tension that reflects the duality between control and surrender.
Each work emerges from a unique, unrepeatable act: the trace is neither corrected nor reworked, but accepted as a direct record of the artist’s action on the surface.
